    My Office does not validate. When I try to run the activation wizard, it says the software is actived. I see from the diagnostic above that somewhere the Office status is not activated. Is there any way to fix this without deinstalling and reinstalling? I see from other posts that that seems to be a popular answer to questsion. We moved last year and I have no idea where my install disks are.

  • Hello totally_befuddled,

    Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->

    Office Status: 101 Not Activated

    Microsoft Office XP Professional - 101 Not Activated

    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0

    Signed By: Microsoft

    Office Diagnostics: 7E90FEE8-169-80004005_B4D0AA8B-587-80004005_025D1FF3-230-1_3E121E02-385-80004005_3E121E02-452-80004005_3E121E02-312-80004005

    When a longtime installation of Office XP or Office 2003 starts to have a "split personality" about whether it is activated or not, that is an indicator of possible corruption or damage to the Office license file.  Uninstalling/reinstalling will not address this problem because the Office installation routine does not remove or overwrite the license file.

    Please work your way thru the Methods in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275.

    Many people have posted back telling us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 corrected the problem.

    Please post back to let us know how you did :-)
