Hard disk errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the last few weeks I have been getting random requests to use the Repair utility on my Home Server Hard drive. The server is only a single drive.  Because of this I purchased a new hard drive for it and am getting ready to install it.  I have backed up all of the data onto another computer, but, am wondering if there is a procedure where I can simply install the new drive onto the server then clone the existing drive to the new one, or do I need to do a complete reinstall, setup, etc?

  • Cloning is not supported by Microsoft. Instead, back up your current server. Ten, if running Windows Home Server 2011, restore your backup, or (if running Windows Home Server V1) install fresh, configure, and restore the backed up data.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
