What is my next move?  I cannot find the disks to reinstall? This software was purchased 3 years ago through U of Wisconsin system and should be legit.  Thanks

Your WGA diag log shows you have a Blocked VLK.

Volume Licenses are only available for mostly corporate use and are not for sale as a retail item.

Can you verify that your COA matches your Product Key? If it does not you can try the following:

1 - Reinstall Windows so your COA matches your Product Key (install using your COA as the Product Key) - This is the preferred method by Microsoft, as it will be a fresh copy, void of potential hacked binary files and security loops that may have been created to bypass WGA. We know this is usually not the user preference, but it is the safest method.

The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key – all without a reinstall! http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50346&clcid=0x409

Information about locating COA stickers is here:

    Thanks,

    Greg

  • Terry D,

Other posters who acquired their Windows Operating Systems and/or Office thru their Universities have been told by MS reps to review the terms of their purchases from the Universities and contact the IT departments of the University.  These posters were told that it is the University that determines whether you are still qualified to use the software, and it is the University that has directed MS to block the Product Key(s).

If the computer has a Certificate of Authenticity affixed to the side, back or top (bottom on a laptop), then there is an excellent chance that it is still licensed to run the OS described on the COA.  If you cannot get satisfaction from the University, your other option is to install the OS on the COA.
