Laptop is not returning to hibernate after the backup is run RRS feed

  • Question

  •

The connector software wakes up my laptop in order to run the nightly backup.  But it never puts it back into hibernation once it's done.  I thought it was supposed to do that.

  • I've seen the same problem with my laptop. But I notice that there is a comment in the "Technical Brief for Home Computer Backup and Restore" that explains what's happening. See page 9:

    "Important
Laptops and other battery-powered computers must be plugged in to AC power to be automatically backed up. A battery-powered computer cannot start an automatic backup. On home computers running Windows XP, there is no easy way to tell whether the computer was awakened from sleep or hibernate, so the computer is put back to sleep when the backup process completes."

That document, and the one covering the Drive Extender are really worth reading.
