    This seems like it should be simpler than it's turning out to be. basically I have a server that did many things. The server name is all over the registry. Now I need to find all the registry values with that server and replace it with a new server. Problem I seem to run into is that these entries are everywhere. HKU, HKCU, HKLM....etc. everything I've tried has errors when changing the HKEY.

    You should not and do not need to do this.  Most of these entries are not of any concern. 

    What is it that is not working?  Focus on that only.

    You need to contact a trained Windows tech to help you with server migrations.  Do not attempt any mass registry change without full understanding of what you are doing.
