transferring .pst files to new computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • When Dell replaced my failing Dimension tower (which ran Windows XP) with an Inspiron tower (running Vista), I copied my Outlook .pst files to an external hard drive. I was able to get Outlook to import the appropriate data to the new machine, but now every time I open Outlook it tells me it can't access the Outlook and Archive .pst files on the F: drive. Of course it can't -- but it doesn't need them. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this issue? Also -- given that the old info seems to have been incorporated successfully into the .pst file on the new machine, do I need to try to copy the old files into the appropriate location (which I have now found ... finally)? Thanks!
