After Update KB947944 (March 08) Outlook wont send or receive RRS feed

  • After 3/15 One Care Update for "Outlook - Junk Email Filter KB947944: OUTLFLTR" my Outlook email does not send or receive. I get an error message from Outlook that says the server could not be found, or the server timed out.  I checked with Earthlink and all the settings were correct and had not been changed. (my email has been working fine for 2 years until this update)  When I remove the One Care update, the Outlook send/receive function works fine.  How can this be fixed permanently? and/or how can I exclude this specific update from occurring via One Care Live?

  • First of all, the update was not provided by OneCare, but via Microsoft Update. OneCare requires that Automatic Updates be configured to download and install critical and important updates automatically or at a scheduled time. You don't need OneCare in order to configure this option. OneCare also checks Windows Update directly during Tune-up to ensure that all available critical/important updates have been installed - Automatic Updates checks for Updates, but some available updates are not offered via Automatic Updates to everyone at once.

     

    Since you cannot exclude any critical or important Windows Update, you will need to reinstall that junk mail filter update. If it causes problems again, go to the Windows Update Solution Center - http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527
