ADFS and CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

we are planning to use CRM 2011 with two different languages (English and dutch) not language packs. and at the same time wants to configure IFD for both...

now we have couple of questions:

    1. Is it possiable to use one ADFS Server for both crm ifd deployments...

like for english version we want IFD URL https://<orgname>.domain1.com and for dutch language https://<orgname>domain2.com

    2. Or same ifd url https://<org>.domain.com for both deployments (eng and dutch) using one ADFS server.

  • Hi,

Although I have never done it, I think that should work. My expectation is that you will have one ADFS machine with one federation metadata endpoint. Then you would configure each deployment individually for IFD using the single ADFS federation metadata endpoint. You will have to make relying parties for each deployment on the ADFS machine. You probably will want to use different IFD URLs for your two deployments to avoid URL name collisions.

Separate question: Why did you choose to have two separate deployments? In Dynamics CRM 2011, we added the ability to have organizations with different base languages in a single deployment. For example, you could install a German server, then create an English base language org and a Dutch base language org. (Please note that creating orgs with different base languages does require that the base language pack is installed, i.e. English and Dutch. However, the MUI pack does not need to be provisioned in the organization since it is the org base language.)
