I recently purchased a used computer that has Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition installed. The previous owner apparently set up an account on Windows Messenger and I cannot delete the account, the contacts, or the program. I am stuck with nag pop-ups informing me that hotlips4565 or nummy$#@ has logged on - and I do not wish to have to see these popups, nor delete the IMs they send.
When I sought help in getting rid of the contacts or removing the program, I read that Microsoft will not allow the deletion of contacts that are not spelled correctly and will not allow the deletion of the program.
For years I have silently acquiesed as Microsoft took away more and more control from me. This time I think will be the last time. Upgrades are due in a year or so, and my next machine will be a Mac. No more Windows.
