  • Question

  • Hi ,

I am completely new to HPC and have the following:

I have an HPC 2012 head node on a WS2012 R2 server and I needed to add a compute node (for a test of some software), I have a WS2016 server and installed HPC 2012 on it but it is not working giving access denied messages, is this a valid setup and if not if I install HPC 2016 on the compute nodes would the head node need to be upgraded first.

I ran some tests (DNS, ping & Servcies) and the HPC Monitoring Client Service is stopped on the Compute node.  I have tried to start it and it keeps stopping, is it that this is not a valid setup or is there some other issue that causes this service to keep stopping.

Please can you point me to where to investigate next.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi GXEvans,

HPC Pack 2012 does not support WS2016. You need to install HPC Pack 2016 or 2019 on WS2016. The head node need reinstallation for the upgrade.
