  • Hello Dodds09,

According to the information contained in the mgadiag report that you posted, you are attempting to install a Dell OEM license for Windows XP Home Edition on an Apple computer.

That is why you are having trouble activating and/or validating the installation, because the Windows anti-piracy system is doing its job.

This is a violation of the Microsoft/Dell OEM End User Licensing Agreement (EULA).  As a rule, an OEM license for Microsoft Windows XP is valid ONLY on the computer onto which it was first installed (in this case, a Dell) and is not permitted by the EULA to be moved to and installed on any other computer.  To read the EULA that applies, click Start>Run, then type winver and click OK.  In the resultant window, click on the link to see your EULA/Software Licensing Terms.

To properly install a genuine License for Windows on your Apple computer (or any computer that does not have an existing license for Windows, for that matter), you will need to purchase a full retail license for the Windows version and edition of your choice.  If you can live with curtailed support and restrictive license transfer limitations, you may consider using a less expensive systembuilder/OEM/small manufacturer license for the Windows of your choice.

    Good Luck!

  • Hello capicorn_kashif,

According to the information contained in the mgadiag report that you posted, you are attempting to install a Dell OEM license for Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba Satellite A60 computer.

Does the Toshiba Satellite A60 computer have a Certificate of Authenticity for any version or edition of Windows?  If so, it is very likely still licensed to run that version and edition of Windows.  Conact Toshiba customer service to see if you can order Recovery or Reinstallation discs for this computer, which will put that licensed Windows back onto the Toshiba and you'll once again be Genuine.

    Good Luck!

  • Unfortunately, both your installed copy of Windows XP and Microsoft Office are non-genuine/pirated/counterfeit.  You can purchase genuine Microsoft software from the  Microsoft Store.

  • Hello capicorn_kashif,

According to the information contained in the mgadiag report that you posted, you are attempting to install a Dell OEM license for Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba Satellite A60 computer.

    Good Luck!

  • Hello lalalalaland,

According to the information contained in the mgadiag report that you posted, you are attempting to install a Dell OEM license for Windows XP Professioanl Edition on an HP/Compaq computer.

Does the HP/Compaq computer have a Certificate of Authenticity for any version or edition of Windows?  If so, it is very likely still licensed to run that version and edition of Windows.  Conact HP/Compaq customer service to see if you can order Recovery or Reinstallation discs for this computer, which will put that licensed Windows back onto the HP/Compaq and you'll once again be Genuine.

    Good Luck!

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

  • Unfortunately, both your installed copy of Windows XP and Microsoft Office are non-genuine/pirated/counterfeit.  You can purchase genuine Microsoft software from the  Microsoft Store.
