CRM 2011 - e-mail router configuration error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am getting the following error when trying to 'Load Data' after completing the configuration settings.

    Outgoing Profile -

    E-mail server type: SMTP

    Authentication type: Anonymous

    Location: FQDN of server

    Incoming Profile -

    Server type: Exchange 2010

    Access credentials: User specified

    Deployment: My company

    Microsoft Dynamics Server: https://<servername>:<port>/<orgname>

    Access credentials: Local System Account

I think it may be an issue with the above server address under Deployment (Microsoft Dynamics Server: https://<servername>:<port>/<orgname>).

Can anyone verify what I should see in the web browser if I enter this (https://<servername>:<port>/<orgname>), at the moment if I enter that I get the security certificate error:

I assume because the SSL is tied to our domain and not the server name. Would this be causing the issue?

I have verified that I have no HTTP bindings in IIS, only the HTTPS. CRM works fine, all the users access through the external domain and it works grand.

However, we cannot get this functionality working.

    Please help

  • Hi,

Are you using self certificate ?

If you used self certificate you get this error. Self-signed certificates are not supported. HTTPS connections must be made with certificates issued by a Trusted Certificate Authority.

"Metadata Contains A Reference That Cannot Be Resolved " .

The above error occurs in two cause.

    1. When we used self certificate

    2. Multiple Binding

  • Hi Surya,

No we are using a WildCard SSL from GeoTrust.

There is only one binding in my IIS - all access to CRM is through the external domain https://crm.companyname.com:444/

Do you have any further advice?

    Many thanks

  • Did you resolve your problem? I have the same issue but with non SSL. I only have a single binding and no cert to worry about.

  • I think the problem is that you are not entering the fully qualified name for the server URL. Your wilcard certificate covers any host at companyname.com (the certificate is valid for *.companyname.com). If you browse to just the servername you will get to IIS and the CRM website but the URL (http://servername) does not match the addresses on the certificate and so your browser shows a certificate error. Your screenshot with the error is what I would expect to see.

In the e-mail router you must use the fully qualified name for the CRM organization to avoid the certificate error.

  • Feridun is correct. You need to use the FQDN of what matches on your certificate. In IE you get prompt to continue through the certificate warning but the router cannot handle that prompt.

Also make sure you put this URL in the local intranet zone on the email router server.
