WHS 2011 Connector Install on Windows 10 Machine Fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • When installing the connector client on my W10 machines, it goes for about a minute and then fails / exits.  If I look at the csetup.log file under c:/programdata/Microsoft/Windows Server/ I can see the install launches clientdeploy.exe, waits 60 seconds and then times out and exits.  The log file end is as follows:

    RunShellExecute: ShellExecute [C:\Windows\Temp\Client Deployment Files\ClientDeploy.exe] with parameters [(null)]

    CSetup::Run: Waiting upto 60secs for Sync Event to be signaled
    CSetup::Run: WaitForSingleObject RetVal = 258
    CSetup::Run: WaitForSingleObject TimedOut

    wmain: End of CSetup: hr=0x0

     =======End of Log=======

    I have googled around and found similar issues but no resolution at this point.  I have tried:

    Turning off firewall and antivirus

    Running as adminstrator

    There were some forum posts on Media Center services not running on the client machine but W10 does not have media center so not sure if that was an issue.

    Updating the WHS with all the most recent updates.

    Installing and uninstalling WS 2012 Essentials W10 compatible connector (some say this helps).

    There are also a ton of people who say they successfully connect W10 to WHS 2011 so I am at a bit of a loss.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
