Windows 7 Ultimate not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • When my computer crashed, I had who I believed to be a reputable repairman make repairs.  He wiped the hard drive clean and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate.  Now my desktop is black and tells me that my windows is not genuine.  I purchased an online download of Windows7 Ultimate from Softwareking in Washington State yesterday and followed their instructions for the download, making a bootable disk, and installation today.  I entered the key number they supplied when the installation took place, but the screen is still black and still says my windows operating system is not genuine.  What do I do now?  Does this mean the download I paid good money for because I couldn't find a place to purchase Windows 7 Ultimate from on a Microsoft website, is also not genuine?  I need help.  I need my computer and I don't want to run a bootleg Windows program.  How do I remedy this problem if the program I purchased and installed today actually is genuine?  I did a Microsoft diagnostic test but I'm not certain it was for Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate.  The results are below.  Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Assuming your license is a Full one (and doesn't match what you see above!), do the following...

    Click on the Start orb

    In the Search box, type

    SLUI 3

    and hit the Enter key

    Follow the instructions.

  • The installed Windows is counterfeit - your machine was manufactured a year before Windows 7 was released and cannot possibly support the installed OEM_SLP Product Key.

The COA sticker should be for windows Vista - do you have an Upgrade license or other license for windows 7 Ultimate?

  • I purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium shortly after buying my computer new and I installed it.  I was using Windows 7 Home Premium until the computer crashed.  My license would have been for Windows 7 Home Premium.  It was the repairman who installed Windows 7 Ultimate after he said he wiped the hard drive.  I purchased a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (full version) and installed it, entered the Key I was given, but it won't activate (I can't get to the Activation Wizard because it still says my copy of Windows in no Genuine, so it sends me to the validation website that will merely spin for hours and never validate).  Beings I can't access the Activation dialogue box I can't get the phone number to register and activate my new operating system by phone.  The COA sticker does say windows Vista, because that was what the computer came with.  If I could get a MSWindows activation phone number it would resolve the problem.
