Program suspected of deleting Vista 64 registry entries eg Software Licensing Services RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi.
As suggested I here http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/threads/ I have made a new thread re: Software Licensing Service won't restart.
I used the fix that Darin posted ie. the green text registry file edit.

It worked and SLSV is back up and running, along with control panel and all the other things that wouldn't work. Please note that I had had this issue in the past and I was forced to reinstall Vista 64 bit. I'm ecstatic that there's a fix for it now! http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/threads/
    Thanks very much Darin!

In the post you suggested that the problem may have come from using a Registry Cleaner. I used Eusing Free Registry Cleaner downloaded from here : http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/EFRCAwards.htm  and my problems (i.e. no control panel, etc) started today, which is no more than 72 hours after using Eusing Free Registry Cleaner for the first time on my current Vista64 install.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi M.H.,

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad we were able to help fix the problem.

We aren't supposed to comment on 3rd party programs, but I can say that the Registry Editors that appears to cause the problem are available on the internet for "free".

Thanks again for taking the time to post,
    Darin MS
