Question

I am an xp user my daughters dell inspiron 1520 is running vista. She has had the computer since december 07. The computer ran a validation of the vista product code and is giving a validation error. 0xc004f050. I have limited access to vista on her computer. I have read most of the posts and none of the solutions work. This is very frustrating (good reason not to upgrade to Vista or trust the bs about validating your product) I need to get a fix for this problem. I am not a computer guy. this is my first post and thread. I assume this is a big problem because it has its on forum. Not sure where or who this post is going to....... but i need help

Hello Keith,
First we will need for you to run a MGA Diagnostic Test so we may see what you are experiencing. Please follow the steps below as it could resolve your issue. If need be, provide us with additional information to determine the cause of this issue.
Make sure you are logged on as an Administrator.
Confirm you are using the most current version of Genuine Advantage by clicking Validate Windows on the website below:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
If the above steps do not resolve your issue, continue below.
Please run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Test (MGADT) so that I may analyze the results.
By clicking the link below, you will download the MGADT. Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard. Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

Please tell us about the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for your copy of Windows Vista.
1. What edition/version of Windows XP is titled?
· Home Basic
· Home Premium
· Business
· Ultimate
2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
4. Please provide the customer scenario you are experiencing.
5. DO NOT post the Product Key.
Not sure what to look for, see this page to reference your COA:
NOTE: The data collected with the MGADT does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you. The information can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.
Thank you Keith.

Stephen, I am on xp my daughters computer that I am having problems with is on Vista. I have run the diagonistic tool on her computer but I have limited access to vista and can not copy to the clipboard the results. In red I am getting a INVALID LICENSE (validation status) I do see OEM in the product id and the product id type (2-oem slp). Her machine is a dell that we purchased on line and I had it shipped directly from dell. I am sure this is a glich and not pirated software. I have entered the validation code on the bottom of her computer and that doesn't work.
Validation status: invalid license
validation code: 50
online validation code 0xc004c4a8
product key: *******_****-4wd8x-m9wm7-ch4cg
Product id: 89572-oem-7332166-00096
product id type: 2-oem slp
windows os version: 6.0.6001.2.00010300.1.0.002
thats all I could type til her machine timed out.
let me know how to proceed klau
