Help! Vista Product key on notebook bottom blurred out.

    Question

  • A processor upgrade caused Windows Vista to reject my OEM product key, the COA on the back of the notebook has a product key but some of the lettering is now blurred out which makes it useless. I called the manufacturer (HP) but they claim I'm out of warranty and they don't have a copy of the COA key. MS Support will not help because Vista came installed with the system.

Vista is now counting down, please help what can I do?

Here is a link to the picture i took of my Certificate Of Authenticity:

    https://sites.google.com/site/mallmarketingsales/IMG00172-20110708-2037.jpg?attredirects=0&d=1

Can anyone make out the full key?

    Thank you.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
     - IN YOUR OWN THREAD, please
It may not be necessary to enter the Key anyhow - but use a bright light and a magnifying glass to try and read it, and then copy it to a safe place (and delete the uploaded picture, as someone may well decide to steal it!

Sorry - must have missed the earlier update!

Your computer's BIOS predates the Vista RTM date - and cannot therefore have a genuine OEM_SLP installation of Vista.
You *MAY* be able to get around this by installing an updated BIOS (make sure that you get the correct one!), depending on how exactly the HP BIOS update is configured.

For what version and edition of Windows is the computer licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case?
