Printer file can't be uninstalled, no administrator permission. I AM THE ONLY ADMINISTRATOR. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently I have windows 8 on my laptop. Last week, I bought and installed HP printer. Printing jobs were running smoothly until I started printing pdf file. After finished printing the actual doc, printer keeps printing letter H on each corner of paper, one after another. No sign of printing program running on the laptop. The only way to stop the printing is by turning off the printer. I did a test and turned off my laptop, while the printer is on. The printer stopped printing letter H one after another. As soon as laptop is on, the issue persists.

PS: the printer is also linked wirelessly to another laptop. No issue on this other laptop.

I tried to uninstall the printer file and it keeps telling me that I don't have the administrator permission to delete it.

There is no virus on this laptop. I am using Bitdefender and it shows no issue to fix. I called them to double check it and was told that there is an issue with the Windows Security System.

Any idea what might have gone wrong with my windows? Laptop is in excellent working condition.

  • I'd ask in one of the Windows 8 forums on Microsoft Community.

I cannot move this question there, so you will need to ask again.

However, you should be able to right click on the control panel icon for Printers, and select Run as Administrator....
