  • Larua,

Thank you for posting your diagnostic information. Diagnostic results help our team in determining the root cause of your issue. Also you can past  the last 15 digits, V7X7H-8VY68-W7D7M, into say google and see this key has been used extensively. I have extracted a portion of your diagnostic results to review with you:

    WGA Data-->
    Validation Status: Invalid Product Key

Where did you get this copy of Windows XP?  I Unfortunately, the product key used to install Windows XP  is a Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked per the request of the legal VLK holder.  As a rule, VLK editions of either an Operating System and/or Office should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VLK editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP and MS Office are Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.

If you want to keep Windows XP Pro installed on the computer, then your best option is to participate in the Genuine Windows Offer and purchase a WGA Kit for $149 USD.  You will be emailed a Product Key that can be used immediately for your currently non- genuine installation of XP Pro, and then about 2-3 weeks later you will receive a genuine Microsoft Windows XP Pro full retail CD and COA, which you can use to do a clean installation (recommended).  Also please review the Validation Advisor for further guidance at:

    https://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/ValidationHelp.aspx

First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please visit the retailer where you purchased the computer and/or the Office Suite and let them know it is a counterfeit copy.  Please print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them proof for the VLK status. Request they immediately reimburse you and/or provide a Genuine Copy.

Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is here to help protect YOU, our valued customer. It is important for more people like you to report piracy @ http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/default.mspx  who have become victims. Reporting piracy will assist  in stopping unscrupulous business practices.  Microsoft legal will follow up on all leads provided.  Submitting piracy reports will assist in stopping unscrupulous business practices.  We CANNOT determine the "Quality" level of non-Genuine submissions and cannot guarantee such a thing here on the forum. You may be eligible for free software if you have high quality counterfeit discs as illustrated here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/content.aspx?displaylang=en&pg=counterfeit

Please be sure to backup or otherwise offload any data from the hard disk because a clean installation/reimaging will destroy all personal user data on the hard drive. Please don't hesitate re-posting if you need further assistance.

  • SFE,

Do you have a WGA question we may address for you? Please run the MGA diagnostic tool and paste the results here so we may analyze what may be causing your particular problem. Also please post in a seperate post of your own. It becomes hard to provide each person one on one attention if there are multiple people in an original post.

    Thank you

  • Hello bhentesaihz,

Right now, your computer has a Volume Licensing (VL) edition of XP Pro installed (Line 10), and that installation was done with an invalid Volume Licensing Key (VLK) (Line 2).  VLKs are invalidated by Microsoft at the report of the original keyholder for such reasons as the key was lost, stolen, compromised, or misused.  Also, MS may have invalidated the key if it was generated by a non-MS Key Generator program, which would seem to be your situation.

If you search the forum for the part of the Product Key that is reported by the utility, "QRPVF-V86FC-P3R8Y" you will see that at least three other posters have reported also using that Invalid Key.

As a rule, VL editions of XP should not be sold to individual consumers.  Businesses, schools and gov'ts normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers.  Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP are Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.

This is why you were seeing the "software counterfeiting" messages on your computer, because the current installation of XP is an unauthorized installation.

More bad news:  Your Office 2003 Pro installation is showing as Nongenuine (Office status=114 means nongenuine).  If this comes as a surprise to you, please go back to where you purchased the installed copy of Office and let them know that it is a counterfeit copy and that you demand the genuine copy that you paid for, or a refund.  In any case, please uninstall the nongenuine installation of Office 2003 as soon as possible.

Look on the computer's case or in the materials that came with your computer or your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).  If you have one, tell us about the CoA.  Tell us:

    1.  What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or for another verison of Windows?

    2.  Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3.  Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4.  DO NOT post the full Product Key that may be printed on the CoA.

Not sure what to look for?  Click here:  http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/en/coa.mspx

If you don't have a CoA for XP and/or Office, then your options for resolution include:

    1.  Puchasing a full retail copy of XP and/or Office at your local store or trusted major online retailer.

    2.  Purchasing an OEM copy if XP and/or Office at your local store or trusted major online retailer.

    3.  Participating in the Genuine Windows and Office Offers to buy copies of XP and Office directly from Microsoft.

    4.  Deleting XP and using a different Operating System on the computer, such as Linux, and open souce productivity software.

Your installation of Front Page 2003 is also most likely a nongenuine pirated installation because it, too, is a Volume Licensing Edition.  Individuals should have OEM or retail licenses for products such as Front Page and Office.

Look on the computer's case or in the materials that came with your computer or your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).  If you have one, tell us about the CoA.  Tell us:

  • Hello khavonne,

If you don't have a CoA, you don't have Genuine software, you have pirated software.

At this point your best option is probably #4 from my last post:  "4.  Deleting XP and using a different Operating System on the computer, such as Linux, and open souce productivity software."
