Office validation problems.. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Im trying to validate my office 2007 and when I click on the validation button, it says there is no product key for office 2003 which was the trial version that came with my laptop.  I know that my office 2007 is a genuine copy, but during the validation process it does not register, it always picks up just the office 2003 trial version and says no product key.  Is there anyway to manually validate my 2007 office and manually enter the product key code.    Please help...

  • cheflor,

Thank you for contacting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. I would like to provide some available options we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing.

The following article will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT OFFICE 2007) on your computer. Then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine Office installation media  and product key. See below:

KB290301 – Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.

The following link provides information for the Windows Product Key Update Tool instructions.

If you are still having issues, download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.  Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard.  Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

We can take a look at your diagnostic report and try to offer you some suggestions which may or may not resolve your issue.
