CRM 2011 Sharepoint integration: Security RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings.

When using CRM 2011 - SharePoint integration, is there a way for SharePoint to inherit CRM 2011 Security model?
I think I know the plain answer to that question but I was hoping to hear from someone who knows of one or more elegant workarounds.

    Thank you for your help,

    Frank

  • Hi Frank,

Your suspicions are correct, the 'out of the box' CRM > SharePoint integration does nothing in the way of sharing security models and that hasn't changed in subsequent versions. CRM simply assumes the user has access to the SharePoint document library and if they don't, well, they'll get an error message.

If you need to grant/restrict access to the SharePoint document library automatically from CRM, you have to build that functionality. Typically, this will involve plugins or an external application working on a windows scheduler task.

  • Hi Frank,

the security if not covered by default. However there is unique solution CB Replicator from Connecting Software company that replicates CRM security model into your SharePoint. This will fit exactly your needs because the SharePoint permissions will match CRM permissions for respective records.
