WGA false verification validation failure: preinstalled copy of xp

Question
-
I purchased my computer from Dell many years ago with 2002 Windows XP Home Edition already installed. Genuine Microsoft Software is stating that I may be a victim of software counterfeiting and that my product key is invalid. My computer is now running extremely slow. I work from home and my computer is essential. I posted the diagnostic report and a brief description of the CoA. Can you please help?

Hello JeffBethany,
According to the mgadiag report, your current installations of both Windows XP Pro and Office Professional 2003 are nongenuine Volume Licensing installations. XP Pro has an Invalid Product Key (made with a key generator pirating program) and Office was installed with a widely pirated product key that is now blocked from further use.
Here's the Windows section of the report:

Your Dell Dimension 3000 computer did not come brand new from Dell with these nongenuine installations of Windows and Office. In many cases, this kind of situation happens if you take your computer to a shop or a repair person, and they do not use the correct CDs and product keys to do reinstallations of Windows and Office.
It's very likely your Dell has a Certificate of Authenticity for Windows affixed to it. If so, it is most likely still licensed to run the version and edition of Windows listed on the CoA.
Your Dell computer most likely came with recovery or reinstallation CDs so that you can reinstall Windows if necessary. If not, please contact Dell to order a set of reinstallation CDs for your computer: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
If your Dell came brand new from Dell with a perpetual (as opposed to a Trial license) license for Office Professional preinstalled, you would have also received genuine Microsoft hologrammed reinstallation CDs in a plain white CD sleeve. On the back of the sleeve would be a Certificate of Authenticity for Office and this CoA will also have the Produce Key that goes along with the CDs needed for reinstalling Office. If you purchased Office in a nice pretty retail box at a retail store, your retail package would of course have the genuine hologrammed Office CDs and the product key in the package.
In order to Get Genuine, ideally you should back up and offload your data, then follow Dell instructions for doing a full recovery/clean installation of both Windows and Office on your computer.
