How to determine OCS 2007 R1 global settings location in AD? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

Before preparing the schema for the deployment of OCS 2007 R2 it is recommended to check on the location of the configuration info in AD (system or configuration container).    I also understand that the Schema Prep will notify you of this issue (see e.g. http://blogs.technet.com/toml/archive/2008/12/29/ocs-2007-r2-migrating-global-settings.aspx).

The problem is I did not seem to have written down where I put the settings for R1 in the first place.  How can I determine the location of the global settings before running the Schema Prep?   Suppose I do execute the Schema Prep, and I get the notification to change the config, do I get a chance to abort the schema prep, or not?

Currently I do not dare to run the tool to avoid problems...

    Thanks for the info,
    Best Regards
    Wim

  • You can Cancel te schema prep and you will get notified of the current settings
You will probably find the settings in the Root Domain Partition => System => Microsoft => RTC Service
    Use ADSIEDIT to view

  • Hi Deli,

Thanks for the information!  The settings are indeed in the location you specified, so system container...  Unfortunaltely.  One more step for the upgrade script. :-)

    Thanks,
