OneCare is not working or has stopped, my computer is locked up now RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a HP laptop, running Vista. It was running just fine and then I received a message that Live OneCare is not working or has stopped. I am in meltdown mode because now my computer is basically locked up and will not let me do anything. I use this for college and all my papers etc. are in there. I have shut it down and restarted so many times already that has not helped either. I just contacted support but I really can't wait for 24-hours. Any answers or suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

  • The most common reason for this is that the date and time are incorrect on the PC. Right click the clock and confirm that the month, day, year, and time are correct. If not, change it and restart the PC.
What do you mean that the PC is locked up, though? OneCare would not cause this, even if it failed to work due to date/time or other corruption.
I wonder if OneCare is a victim of some other problem on the PC. If it isn't a date/time issue, you may want to consider contacting HP.
For OneCare Support - unofficial path - send me an email at sboots_at_mvps.org (replace _at_ with @)  with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link:

I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

If you don't get an email response from me wthin 24 hours, post back as my email provider is getting more aggressive with the spam filtering.
