ActiveX download is blocked by IE 7 brower

Question

When I try to download the ActiveX control to download my updates my broswer blocks it from downloading and I can't find a way to allow it to download this add on. Because it is being blocked it cannot validate me as Genuine so I can't get the updates.
So...how do I fix this?

Hi Elite,
Please go to http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en and click the “Start Diagnostic" button. The next screen will check a number of setting on your computer needed for the validation process to be successful (including ActiveX enabled), If any of the settings are detected as incorrect, click the "Resolve" button and you will be provided with step by step instructions on how to resolve the issue. Once done, re-try the check and if all passes, then click the “Validate Windows” button. Once done, you should be able to download any updates available. Please Note: Depending on how your Windows was configured, installing software (such as ActiveX controls) may require Admin Privileges. If this is the case, you will need to login to windows using the Admin Account or contact the person that can. (In an office environment, this is usually the network or IT Admin. In a home environment, this is usually the Adult that bought/owns the computer).
If you still have problems, please try the steps found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883255/en-us
Thank you,

Yeah, I tried all that and the ActiveX control that it asks to download is still being blocked by Internet Explorer 7. I tried the steps on the other support link but the ActiveX control was still blocked.

When you click the "Resolve Now", did it give you step by step instuctions to resolve your issue?
What happen when you followed the instructions?
Thanks,

Nevermind, it turned out that it was my server's firewall that was blocking the ActiveX download. You guys may want to take note of that in your support area in the future.Wednesday, February 21, 2007 1:29 AM
