Does OneCare back up corrup files?

I am having some major java issues after installing Expression Web. And Expression Web Tech advised me that there is probably a corrupt java file and my best bet was to reformat my pc as Sun has not responded to my help request. Uninstalling Expression Web and then uninstalling and reinstalling Java has not helped in the installtion of Expression Web. Prior to my initial installation of Expression Web, I had NO pc issues at all. My question is: If I reformat and then use my OneCare backup (located on an external drive) will the backup reload the corrupt file back onto my pc? Currently I have my pc with Expression Web uninstalled, the Java was uninstalled and reinstalled. I cannot do a restore and I cannot use remote assistance nor the Microsoft update Center. Would you advise the reformat? Or was the Expression Web Tech puffing smoke?

If you preform a complete format of the PC and a reinstall of your operating system and programs, OneCare will only be restoring data files. No program files are ever backed up by OneCare. Therefore, I believe that the corrupt file would not be restored by OneCare as it has not been backed up by OneCare.

However, I would probably not take the advice of the Expression Web tech and I'd suggest heading over to the Expression newsgroups where some very knowledgeable people may be able to offer some ideas for you.

If they can't help directly, they can steer you in the right direction and perhaps save you from the complete format.
