Connector Software Install Problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've been running WHS for a few months now with no problems.

Yesterday I had a problem which required my to repair my installation. All worked well and while I could access my data I decided to back it all up onto a USB drive. So at the moment my data is all safely tucked away.
I decided to do a full and clean reinstall, all went well all updates loaded and installed. A squeaky clean installation.

My problem comes from trying to install the connector software onto client pc's. I decided to uninstall the connector software from the clients and install a fresh copy on each.
I have tried to install the software from the \\SERVER\Software\Home Server Connector Software folder and also tried from the server:5500 web page, every time i get a box saying 'The downloaded files might contain a virus - The publisher of at least one of the downloaded files is not trusted. The files could potentially contain a virus. If you want to continue the installation anyway, click next..'
I click next and the install fails. I have checked all the associated files with virus checker - all clean.

Am i missing something here? The only online activity i have had is updating the WHS software. The connector software always worked perfectly before.

Any ideas?? I can access all the shared files and folders from within windows explorer, so access to my data is not a problem.
Just would be nice to have control again over the server.

    Thanks in anticipation

I'm guessing your A/V program on your clients is giving you a false positive.  Which A/V are you using?

  • Well thats what I thought, i've got one PC running XP Home with F-prot, one PC running XP Prof with last years Trend Micro and one running Vista Business with this years Trend Micro.
I've also tried to install the connector software with all the anti virus programs and firewalls turned off.
And i've also tried deleting the update KB957825, using the previous software (no joy) then reinstalling the update again (no joy)
