Won't accept key

  I just purchased this one care, have installed and reinstalled and it will not go to a place to enter the key.  the key that is with the package has letter and numbers --- more than 20.  this is the most useless system I have come across but I paid money for it and it is recommended by the fellow at the store. how do I get this thing registered?
