Windows Live One Care Firewall RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm running Windows XP which has a Firewall.  Why have Microsoft put a Firewall in One Care?  Is it the same firewall system which replaces the XP one - I'm assuming you switch the XP one off when running One Care.

    Confused?

  • To add to Wenskie's reply the One Care firewall adds outbound protection, is more robust, and is much more configurable than the Windows firewall.

  • That is correct. The Windows firewall will be turned off when you install onecare. OneCare uses a separate module or service for firewall, so its different from the basic Windows firewall.

Thanks. Is it as good as, the same as or worse than the XP firewall?
