Drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I did a site search and believe I have an answer to my question, but would like confirmation. I'm going to install WHS on a dual processor Gigabyte system tonight and have tried to track down all Windows Server 2003 drivers ahead of time. One would think that a server board would support WS2003 but it's not a slam dunk. There was a Promise controller driver available on the Gigabyte site, so I'm assuming the motherboard supports that OS, but there was no listing for chipset drivers. Are you finding that Windows XP or  2000 drivers will work in most situations, or is it a case of just trying them to see if they work? Thanks for the feedback!

  • If you are wanting chipset drivers for your motherboard you can go to http://downloadfinder.intel.com and download the drivers directly from there.

  • Thanks, but it's an AMD 760MPX-based board. So far it's running great, but I'll continue to search for better drivers.

  • you may want to check out the xp drivers here: http://www.amd.com/gb-uk/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_2336,00.html

(the first in the list probably won't work since it's checking the OS and downloading the needed drivers (you can still give it a try, it won't harm your computer in any way)

  • Hi Britwon,

The better way is to use some PCI Database Hardware Ids website, here is one for searching the drivers

    1. Identify Unknown Device
    2. http://www.devicekb.com/drivers

and once you are able to Track all the Drivers, do list of Vendors and their respective Devices. Download them all for WS2003 and then give it a shot. Thank you
