wsusscn2.cab file does not contain information of the Bulletins released in November.

    Question

  • MS released 16 new bulletins this November on Patch Tuesday.

However all our attempts to acquire any of the new patches failed.

Our initial investigation shows that information for these bulletins has not been added to wsusscn2.cab . we are completely dependent on this file for all the bulletin information and at this moment it appears that this cab file has not been updated with the latest information. Extraction of the cab file shows that the last updated date if the internal files is 27th/28thOctober.

There is a package.xml file in the cab and that file would normally contain URL’s for the new patches.

I noticed the year and the month url’s only up until the last month. There are no entries for the month of November. Hence the patch acquisition cannot find information related to the new bulletins

  • Even the MSBA does not find a new version of the file, if set up to use the offline database file it reports everything as fine despite none of the November patches installed yet.

This is highly unusual, may this be a server cache/load balancer issue, still sending out an outdated file?

  • We have exactly the same behavior... the correct version (that includes the November updates) is badly needed at this moment.

  • Just opened up a case with Microsoft to look into this issue, hopefully we will get some update. I will keep this thread updated as and when I have anything from Professional Customer Services.

  •    This is not the first time MS has been late updating the wsusscn2.cab file to reflect the latest patches. I am checking the wsusscn2.cab every 10-15 minutes and will update this thread once the .cab file is updated.

  • Having the same issue. Really hope we see a fix soon. This is unfortunate especially with the MS14-066 Schannel vulnerability.

  •  The new date of wsusscn2.cab is 11/11/2014. I am in the process of acquiring the bulletins now.

  • I've just received confirmation from Microsoft Support about the release of updated wsusscn2.cab file.

  • What was the update from MS on the issue ? why did they not update the wsusscn2.cab yesterday ?

  • I am going to guess that 068 and 075 needed to be pulled from the cab file for some reason. They are not a part of the release.

  • Hi,

Like last month Nov, I don't see new updates in wsusscn2.cab. when it will be updated, any idea?

Earlier it used to get updated as soon as announcement is out.

    thanks,

  • Same here and same as in November, where we had to wait >24 hours; horrible. Is ANYbody aware of new rules / dates? Or am I missing something?
