error 1316 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Genuine (per diagnostics run) copy of Office XP Professional that I have the CD etc for active on my computer.  Somehow and somewhere, a Non Genuine copy (Per same diagnostics run) of Office XP Pro PLUS Front Page made its way onto my computer.  I don't know where, why or how and I don't have a CD for it.  When I go into ADD/REMOVE Programs and try to delete it, I get an error 1316 message, looking for a file ProPlus.  I have run a file search and I can't find the file either.  Consequently, I can't uninstall the non-genuine copy.  I have searched through  Programs and all I see is Office, so I don't know how to delete ithe non genuine copy that way either.  What else can I do?

    thanks

Thank you for contacting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. I would like to provide some available options we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing. Please make sure you have the Microsooft Office media & Product Key information (from your purchase) in-hand before beginning.

The following article will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT OFFICE 2007) on your computer. Then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine Office installation media  and product key. See below:
