CRM 2011 Rollup 8 to 13 upgrade failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

After manually running the rollup 13 installation file, the application and organization databases have been upgraded except for one. The error given in the log file is as follows:

Database update install failed for orgId = X.  Continuing with other orgs.  Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added.
at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.Insert(TKey key, TValue value, Boolean add)
       at Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.PreloadedOptionSetMetadataDataProvider.LoadNormalOptions(IPreloadedMetadataInitializationContext context, Boolean initializeEnumOptionProvider)

The Update Rollup 13 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server (KB2791312) completed successfully. However, the database update failed for some organizations.

Has anyone experienced/found a solution for this problem? I have found suggestions about checking the base languages, but the database and application base languages are both EN-US, though a French language pack is installed on this organization.

  • Hi,

Did you have any luck identifying the cause of this issue? I am having an identical error - no luck identifying the cause of it to date.

  • Go to Microsoft's Knowledge Base article 2808349

Running the query located in the resolution against the organization's database worked for me. This solution was provided by Microsoft support, but you should back up your database before attempting this. Once the query is run, attempt to re-update through deployment manager.
