Share SIP domain between AD forests? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have two internal AD forests (with a forest trust).  Forest 1 has LCS 2005 with 2005 Edge.  Forest 2 has OCS 2007 with 2007 Edge.

I created unique sip domains on each forest and enabled federation, which is working great (when I use test SIP domains).

However - I need to "share" the same SIP domain between forests.  In other words, I need users in both forests to sign in with contoso.com and then be able to chat with users in the other forests.

    Is this even possible?

  • I don't think that is possible...
In that case you probably need to design a central forest that serves both ADs

  • Hi,

Did you ever get more info other than Johan's reply?

I'm in a similar situation where by we have two forests each with LCS 2005 and have proxies for the two to relay to the different sip domains.  Now we want to converge to one forest using one sip domain but how would it work during the transition where two forests use the same sip domain or is it just not possible?

    thanks
