  • If you are using HPC Pack 2016 Update 2 (version 5.2.6277), please upgrade with the latest patch KB4481650 for version 5.2.6291.

This looks a known issue in 5.2.6277 for the Web Portal fails to load.

  • Hi DCSpooner,

Could you reboot the machine after running Set-HpcWebPortal.ps1 as installing IIS may need a restart, then open https://<headnode>/HpcPortal again?

  • Thank you,

one more question, should I install cluster services to cluster the IIS web between the three servers?

how do I get the end users to point to a consistent DNS name?

  • Do you mean you have three high availability head nodes and you want to connect to the web portal via a single DNS name?

If you deploy the cluster in Azure, you may connect with the DNS name of the cluster. It points to the load balancer which will route the request to one of the head nodes. If you setup the cluster on prem, you may need to setup the load balancer on your own.
