Problem with connecting new laptop with windows 7 to windows home server with pp3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have a HP EX 470 updated with power pack 3. I also have a new laptop running on windows 7 and would like it to connect to the server. When I try to use the software installation disc on the laptop it doesn´t accept the installation disc. Do I need a new installation disc due to power pack 3 and windows 7 and in thar case were to I get it?

  • I would reccomend that you open up your browser and type http:// server:55000  (replace server with your servername)
You should see the option to download and install the connector. This will be the correct version according to what you have on your server, no need to create a new installation disc.

  • The other option would be to install the Connector software by running setup from the share \\yourservername\software\Home Server Connector Software.
The version of the connector software which you find on the CD is outdated and should only be used for the initial configuration just after installing the WHS.
