Best way to reinstall WHS 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having a myriad of issues with my server and am coming to the conclusion that reinstall will be required. Remote web access won't set up, computer monitoring is stopping frequently, SQL server for My Movies won't work, and so on.

So, the questions becomes what is the best way to do this without screwing a lot of stuff up? Is it possible to just reinstall the OS without reformatting the entire disk? And what is the best way to keep my DrivePool intact?

Multiple drives is not an issue if I need to get my data off the OS drive. Any help would be appreciated as I'm not finding much info out there on this.

  • StableBit has an excellent tutorial here on how to do a reinstall and get your DrivePool back up and running.

  • No, a reinstall will reformat the disk that has the OS on it (normally drives C: & D:) so you need to make sure you have backed up that data elsewhere. What sort of drive pool do you have - suggest you get advice from the software vendor?

  • I'm using StableBit DrivePool. I'll have to some research on that one.
