Part of my product key has warn off RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some of the last 7 digits of my Win 7 product key are impossible to read. The bar code is in tacked will this help. Is there a way I can get a replacement number? Is there a way I can post a pic of the number and someone might be able to decipher what remains?

  • Can you get into Windows? If so, you could use auditing software to find the code. I'm not sure what the rules are about posting third party links so google (Belarc or Magic Jelly bean)...

  • This laptop has Ubuntu install and it has been giving problems so I thought I would go back to M$ for another year while Ubuntu sorts its self out. So, there is nothing M$ left on this machine except the code on the bottom. No recovery discs either

  • you should be able to order recovery disks from your manufacturer.

it's also possible (if you can take a photo of the sticker) to get assistance from an Activation center -
when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.
Be polite, but persistent - they should be able to help.
