Why is Safari not a supported browser for the Forums?

Question
-
Everytime I attempt to post something using Safari on the Mac, a dialog box pops up that says: "http://social.technet.microsoft.com" and I end up having to use Firefox to post to the forums.
What -- specifically -- is keeping Safari from being used to post the Technet forums?

You need to refine your symptom description. E.g. probably something is being returned which Safari is misinterpreting and that is what is causing the "dialog box". Does your Mac have any kind of HTTP tracer you could use? Perhaps Safari itself has a built-in trace? In any case find out what the HTTP request and response sequences are and you will be able to see what is producing your symptom. Since you have another browser which does work, if you could trace it too you would be able to compare the traces without actually having to understand exactly what either one means. ; )Good luck

I take it from your reply that you are not seeing the problem with Safari on your computer? I also tried the following with Safari on Windows 7 and got the same thing.
Exact steps:
Bring up this forum (or any forum) thread.
Hit "Reply".
Enter some text (no special formatting).
Hit "Submit".
On both Mac and Windows, Safari will pop up a dialog box that says "http://social.technet.microsoft.com" with an "OK" button. Clicking the button just brings me back to my composed message and all I can do is "Cancel" at that point.

testing to see if I can reply in Safari now (as I was asked to mark something as an answer?)
And...
Safari 5.1.1 (on Mac OSX 10.7.2) still can not reply to a forum posting. So, unless the answer to mark is "it's a bug"...

I also tried the following with Safari on Windows 7 and got the same thing.
Then use Fiddler2 there. FWIW I don't use Safari. Also (synchronicity?) see if this is what is causing your symptom (change of case in HTTP fragment):
In that case the problem browser was an older version of Firefox.

Firefox works correctly (on Windows 7 and the Mac). It's specifically a Safari issue (though I didn't test Opera/Chrome/whatever else is out there...)

The bug is not fixed - I'm facing that alert whenever I try to post an answer!
