Email with receipt are "deleted without being read" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

We are encountering issues regarding the mail receipt sent from our customer.

We have setup a queue in CRM which copies the email sent to service@mycompany.com into CRM and then deletes the origin mail inside the mailbox.

So when customer send us mail with "read receipt" attached they are prompted that their email was deleted before being read.

Is there an option to stop the message "the mail has been deleted without being read" from being sent once the mail is transfered to CRM and automatically deleted from the mailbox without being read?

(We have setup this queue in order to preserve space in the mailbox service@mycompany.com so we cannot keep mails both in CRM and in mailbox)

    Many thanks in advance,

  • Hi

I know this is an old thread but I had a similar situation and was able to remedy this by creating a transport rule in Exchange:

Go to Exchange Management Console, Organization Configuration, Hub Transport, Transport Rules

Create new transport rule, give it a name, Read Receipt Rule, Select "From users that are inside or outside the organization, or partners"

Change "Inside the Organization" to "Outside the Organization"

Select "Sent to People", click on "people and add the queue mailboxes affected

Click Next, select "Remove Header", click "header" and type "Disposition-Notification-To" without the quotes

    Click Next, Next, New.

You will no longer have the issue.
