Activation after replacing crashed hard drive RRS feed

    A hard drive was flaky on my system running XP SP2. I was able to backup the drive using NT Backup. I replaced the original 40GB PATA drive with an 80GB SATA drive. Since the original drive was the one I booted from, I was obliged to re-install XP on another drive in order to restore the original data.

    The restore seems to have been succesfull since when I boot I now have the original accounts available on the log in screen however whatever account I select I'm told I must activate Windows in order to log into this session. I'm asked if I want to do that, I answer yes and after quite a while the session just logs out and returns me to the log in screen.


    What am I supposed to do? I have a valid licence for this system.
