Visual Studio 2010 Express to prepare for Exam 70-511 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I use the free Express versions of Visual Studio to prepare for the Exam 70-511.

I bought today from Amazon: "MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam_70-511) by Matthew Stoecker".

But I don't know if the Visual Studio Express C# will be ok or if I need a more pro version of Visual Studio.

  • You can read at this web site http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-511&locale=en-us#tab1

"The candidate works in a development environment that uses Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2010 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 to create WinForms and WPF applications. The candidate should have at least one year of experience developing Windows-based applications by using Visual Studio, including at least six months of experience with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. "

You can use the books and Visual Studio Express C# but without hands on experience it will be hard to master the topics

  • I would like to tell you that this kind of exams are more hands on oriented. If you have got experience at least six months with Visual Studio 2010 Professional (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-511&locale=en-us#tab1), it will be easier for you to pass your certification. Maybe I am wrong, I found myself that these certifications are suitable for people with professional experience not just reading books.

  • I got a bit confused about your answer because it seems contradictory. Anyway, what may I really miss if I use Visual Studio Express C# in my self-study? Can you clarify that a bit, please?
