Contact Quick View Form on Phone Entity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are on CRM 2013 on-prem. We're trying to create a Contact quick view form on the Phone entity. The relationship of this Contact to the Phone is from either the "Caller" or the "Call To" field. We don't want to set it to the "Regarding" field because this is reserved to a Case, etc.

However I don't see any available options for the "Caller" or the "Call To" relationship in the phone entity. Is this possible to do out-of-the-box?

    Thanks much,

  • Hello triangular,

Quick view forms can be set up by configuring a Lookup field and the type of Entity (in your case specifically, it would be User).

Unfortunately the fields you are looking to use are both of type "Party List", which is essentially saying this fields can be filled in by one (or more users). This is the reason these fields aren't displayed in your options, in the grid.

Not being sure of the entire purpose here, you could for example add a new Lookup field for Users and add it to the Phone Call form. This way you could link it to your Quick View form and display the information.

    Hope that was helpful,

  • Thanks Pedro, we typically fill in the caller or call to field with a 'Contact' entity and we just need to put more info of this contact on the Quick View form. From your answer it looks like this is not available unfortunately.

    Thanks,

  • triangular,

Like I've mentioned in my previous post, while it is not available out of the box you could solve this by creating a new field (Lookup to Contacts) that is filled in with a single Contact, and then create your Contact Quick View Form based on this field, to display it on the form. It would certainly require some customization steps, but it is possible!

Small correction for the above post: I mean the Entity as a Contact and not as a User - I've mentioned User likes 3 times. :) )

    Glad to help! Thanks,
