MS CRM 2011 Deployment Web Service install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Trying to install the Deployment Web Service for MS CRM 2011 on a front end web server.  Have gone to Program install and to configure it, selected Deployment Web Service to install, added the user name and password which all went through fine.  When the installation commenced it finished almost instantly stating there was no operation to perform.  Log files seem to indicate that it didn't pick up the install as being needed.  MS CRM server is at rollup 11 but not sure if it failing as we have installed all these rollups without having installed the deployment web service first.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • These lines:

08:22:11|  Error| Install exception.System.ArgumentException: InstallType not supported: None
       at Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Common.HelpIndexesInstaller

Seem to indicate that not installing the Help indexes is not a valid choice.

But the header seems to indicate it knows they are already there and that is why it is not trying to install them again:

08:22:11|   Info|       ServerHelpIndexesInstaller:  Current:  True; Requested:  True; Operation:         None

What else is running on this front-end?

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Adam,

We have installed all the elements of the front end server. Web Application, Organization WS, Discoverty WS and Help Server.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I got it fixed with the below approach.

    • Select Configure.
    • Unchecked 'Help Server' and Checked Backend Server roles. Next, complete the installation.
    • Rerun the setup again and select 'Help Server'.

Not sure whether this is right way to fix this issue. But it worked for me :)
