My parents have XP, but are getting a msg saying their copy of Windows 7 is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I'm going to my parents tonight to try to fix this issue.  I would greatly appreciate any advice in advance of this visit.

Their PC came from Dell and was pre-installed with Windows XP.

However, now when they log on, they get a message that says their copy of Windows is not genuine and then they are taken to a website where they can buy Windows 7.

Thank you very much for any help/advice

    John.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
