Setting up a Quarterly Sales Report RRS feed

  • Question

  • We've recently had Dynamics CRM V4.0 installed at work, and I am now looking to set up reports to replicate the information that I could get out of our sales spreadsheets.  However, I'm at a complete loss as to where to start - whilst the report (I think) is very simple, I really don't know what fields I should be adding to the report!
What I need is a report for the current quarter (three months) showing:
All Orders which have come in
All Quotes which are currently Active (i.e. not Won / Lost)
All Opportunities which do not have a Quote

All of these need to be sorted by the Owner of the Opportunity / Quote / Order and totals tallied.
I've managed to get as far as Opportunity: "Estimated Close Date On or After X" And "Estimated Close Date On or Before X" to get me the Opportunities, but I don't know how to say "where there isn't a Quote"
With the "related record type", I can then select Quotes or Orders, and do the same above, but I can't get the third search in there.

Essentially, I'm looking at a combination of the Sales Pipeline and the Sales History Report, but I need to know whether opportunities have been quoted as well.

Neither the training manual nor the in-CRM help are any help whatsoever!

    Many thanks in advance,
    Jo

  • I think you are going to want to look at developing some custom reports.  This will provide you with the greatest flexibility.  As long as you do not have CRM Online, you can create custom reports and load them to your CRM server.
If this is not something you think you are initially capable of getting done, you might find it helpful to hire a consultant to write the first few reports with you so that you can learn.  Otherwise, if you are comfortable with the 'self-taught' approach, there are many resources available from online tutorials to books.  Based on the information above, the reports you need to get started don't appear very complex.  You may even be able to download one of the current pipeline reports from CRM, open it in Visual Studio, make modifications to meet your needs and upload it back to CRM.
