Why are my communicator clients not getting updated Display Names in the contact list? RRS feed

  • I have made a change to the Display Name for a User Object and it's associated Exchange mailbox in Active Directory.  The old display name was:

    Smith, Jim

    The new display name is:

    Jim Smith

    This change happened about four days ago.  All Outlook clients have downloaded the updates Offline Address Book and are reflecting the change.  The problem is that if someone added "Smith, Jim" as a contact to their communicator client in the past it is not being updated to the new Display Name of "Jim Smith."  How long do I have to wait for the contact list to reflect this change?

    I have no interest in performing the method of deleting the GalContacts and letting the client pull down a brand new one.  I want this to happen without IT intervention on the client-side.  Any ideas why the list hasn't been updated as of yet?
