My data is gone - Problems with Mesh? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi there,

yesterday I realized that Mesh? deleted a huge amount of my data. First I thougt I had accidentially delted the data, but its to confusing to do this manually. My folder structure:

    1. Data
    Subfolder: normaldata, securedata, software
within "normaldata", "securedata" and "software" I also have a few folders.

The whole folderstructure is available, but the data within the folders is missing. Interestingly, not in all folders my data is lost. The bad thing is: (my own error)

Because I know my data was synchronized with 3 PCs and with the internet, I did not do a regular backup of the data...

So, does anybody know if there were problems with Mesh, because I can not believe it that I manually deleted the files because not all files are lost...

  • Live Mesh should not have deleted any data unless it is replicating an action from another device in the Mesh. That said, it is certainly possible that Live Mesh got confused.
Have you checked the Recycle Bin on the PC or PCs?

  • Hello Stephen,

sorry for my late response, but I was on a business travel. I could not believe it. I checked my computer at home last night and all my data was in the Recycle Bin of my primary home computer.

Thank you very much for this hint. I am never using the Recycle Bin, so I had no reason to look into it.

  • Glad that you found the data. It doesn't answer why it ended up there, though!
