The Office Professional 2003 version which you have is a volume license copy which is reported as non-genuine. It is a volume license copy (VLK) of office 2003 which is used for organisation. It is not for OEM (pre-installed) or for retail use. Contact the dealer who provided/installed Office Professional 2003.- Marked as answer by Darin Smith MS Wednesday, January 6, 2010 8:43 PM

Hello markbch,
Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:
OGA Data-->
Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office Project Standard 2007 - 100 Genuine
OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0

Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1
The current installation of Office Professional 2003 is a nongenuine volume licensing installation which was done with a very widely pirated but now blocked volume licensing key.
Your installation of Project Standard 2007 is reporting as a Genuine installation of a retail licensed product, so no worries there.
Based on your comments about the computer originally having an Office installation preinstalled by Dell when it was new, and the fact that it was sent in for repair and software was reinstalled, I think what happened is the shop used the widely pirated copy of Office to reinstall Office on the computer, and now that copy is showing up as nongenuine. They did not use a Dell OEM copy of Office.
So your supposition is correct, in order to Get Office Genuine once again, uninstall the current nongenuine Office from the Add or Remove Programs applet of the Control Panel, restart twice, then install Office using the genuine hologrammed CDs you got from Dell when the computer was new.
After installing the Dell-supplied Office and activating normally, restart, then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button.
Occasionally remnants of the old nongenuine Office can hang around and cause a new installation of Office to continue to report as nongenuine. If you encounter this, post back with a fresh mgadiag report and we will assist you in getting those remnants cleaned out :-)
