  • What is a matrix.  Your output is just a bunch of numbers and dashes.

Are you trying to look like one of those dopey movie computer screens that are decoding something.

You cannot do that in Windows with a batch file.  You have to write a program that knows how to write to the desktop.\

  • Your question makes no sense. As jrv already explained, there is no "how" or "which format" that will make your shell script (batch file) appear as the Windows background.

Maybe he wants the desktop background to show lots of random numbers. If so then would need to create his own picture, e.g. by filling a Word screen manually with numbers, then using snippingtool.exe to generate a .jpg file that he could use as a backdrop. This has, of course, nothing whatsoever to do with scripting. He should look at a few other threads in this forum to see what scripting is about.

  • I felt sorry for the little guy. I have a friend who's 7 year old wanted one of those.  Here is his solution:

It is an older screensaver that does that.

To animate the desktop takes a very special program that can write to the desktop. If you are an experienced Windows programmer then you can do it.  It is not something a kid can easily do although some kids are pretty smart.

What we see in the movies is usually a screensaver or a window with no chrome running full screen.

There are also web sites that display this random pattern in a full screen browser.  I couldn't find the web site but look and you will find.

Why didn't you say so in the first place? It would have avoided a lot of confusion!
